Callie Solutions' Don Mattis, John Kominetz and Gregory Hargis pitch to a crowd at the HubX reception earlier this month.
Our HubX-LifeSciences cohort is off to a great start! They've heard from program partners and other entrepreneurs, and have even gotten familiar with the fundamentals of intellectual property law.
One of those teams, Philadelphia-based Callie Solutions, shared the benefits they've received so far from the HubX-LifeSciences program. Callie Solutions has conceived a mobile device-based system of communication between patients and hospital staff, improving on the outdated "call-light" system.
As an early-stage technology company, the team was looking for help to develop a business strategy. When they learned that HubX-LifeSciences was specifically targeting health care startups, they knew it could be a huge benefit to them.
Gregory Hargis, co-founder and CEO of Callie Solutions, appreciates the access to helpful, engaged professionals: mentors from Baptist Health and Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, nurses, executives, entrepreneurs and more. "In the few weeks that we have been here," says Gregory, "we've met more people than we could have done on our own in six months. We have learned about the issues health care providers face and how our product can be part of their solutions."
After the HubX-LifeSciences program is completed, Gregory and co-founders Don Mattes and John Kominetz plan to begin seeking seed funding to help develop their product. "We also plan to continue building the relationships we have cultivated while here," says Gregory.
